2017 at Christ the King Parish Club in Liverpool.
This month we were very pleased to welcome Liverpool County FA's Dave Pugh (C.E.O & ex-
Premier League Referee) and Tony Smith (Football Development Manager) who gave those present
a detailed update on the exciting 'Park-life' project currently taking place in the City
into new 'football hubs' that will enhance the experience of all participants in the game. The new hubs will
be at:
- Heron Eccles (Allerton)
- Jeffery Humble (Fazakersly)
- Jericho Lane (Otterspool)
- Simpsons Ground (Woolton)
Each of these new hubs will feature new artificial pitches, changing facilities and improved car parking.
Dave and Tony explained that Heron Eccles would also see an extension with new education facilities built
into the existing site.
The presentation also covered the potential wide-ranging usage of these new facilities including local youth
and adult leagues, disability football, walking football, coaching/referee continual development courses and training
by local sports clubs.
The work is expected to get underway shortly with completion expected around April 2017.
In a informative presentation, which provided those present with more details about the re-development of
grounds they officiate at, Dave and Tony also showed on screen plans for each of the site and took a number
of questions from the audience.
We would like to thank Dave and Tony for coming along and giving this excellent presentation. A reminder the
latest news from the County can be found at http://www.liverpoolfa.com/
In the second half of the 'SOCIAL EVENING', those present enjoyed a special screening of the recent Gary Neville
and Jamie Carragher refereeing documentary, in which the two Sky Sports experts attended training sessions with
the Premier League referees, giving an insight into refereeing at the highest level.
There were also congratulations by all present, to our two members who had recently gained promotion to Level
3 by the Football Association, Carl Rooney and Joe Pettit will now referee at Contributory Level.
Be sure to join us for the last 'SOCIAL EVENING' of the season on Thursday 25th May 2017 @ 8pm in Christ
the King Parish Club in Childwall!
