different clips drawn from his own and other top officials games to illustrate the importance of keeping
control of situations that can arise in matches and how to take preventive measures to minimize the chances
of such incidents occurring. Neil highlighted the importance of deploying knowledge of the laws of the game and
also the need to use common sense when the circumstances require as match officials.
In a wide ranging and informative presentation, Neil also give those present a sense of what life as a Select Group
Referee entails. He drew upon his experiences as a top-flight referee and discussed the commitment required to reach
this level of officiating, as well as giving an insight into the active role Forth Officials take in the higher levels of the
game.
The presentation was greatly enjoyed by all those who were present, plenty of debate and discussion arose
throughout the evening about incidents in some of the clips shown and in a question and answer session
at its conclusion. Our President, Bruce Dixon gave a vote of thanks from all in attendance to Neil for his
